What if it was actually possible to have a website you loved?

Something that reflected who you are, without having to conform or hide your wonderful weirdness

-oh and what if it converted well too-

So you've spent hours (or weeks) learning more than you wanted to know about the optimal sizes for website images and what all the tech jargon and endless initials mean.

But you're still struggling to get them in the right place.

Also at the right resolution.

Oh and in the right order too.

Not to mention how frustrating it is to try to put creativity and personality into something as rigid and unwelcoming as tech stuff.

If you feel unsure about your website it could be affecting you more than you realise.

When you have doubts about such a forward facing part of your business, you tend to hold back a little, maybe without even realising.

  • Self doubt whispers are a little louder

  • You might hesitate a bit (or a lot) before creating, pitching or selling.

  • You start to question whether even should keep going

It’s kinda like going to a dinner party you thought was casual but when you look around you realise everyone else is sparkly and fancy

You’re surrounded by designer labels and you start to feel ashamed or embarrassed to draw attention to yourself so you kinda just try to blend in.

You shouldn’t want your website to blend in.

But now you’re stuck,

Because you definitely don’t want to put on some uncomfortable dress in some terrible ‘on-trend’ colour that doesn’t suit you and besides, the style is all wrong for you anyway.

That’s where I come in, just consider me your personal website tailor…. Ok sorry, this metaphor has gone on long enough

I understand not feeling happy with your website as you’ve made it

-but at the same time not trusting someone else will truly get what you’re all about.

One of the reasons I spent so much time learning web design is I didn’t believe anyone else could understand and capture who I was.

It’s why I created my process to be super collaborative.

Before I even start designing there’s a whole bunch of workbooks for you to fill out, where we go over everything from who you love working with and your business origin story, to how you do what you do, why you do it and who you are.

After you’ve sent them back we go over everything you’ve written on a call, where we take as long as we need to make sure I’m on the right track and so I can get even more details.

We’ll even build the mood board together so I can understand not only what you like but why those things speak to you and what your individual style is.

I’ve also set up frequent check in and multiple options for you to easily and quickly give feedback and steer the ship where you want it.

AND you also have unlimited revision requests during the mock up and design stage.

So you don’t need to worry about being stuck with something that’s way off!

“Before working with Stak, me and my website weren't very good friends, we were barely on talking terms. I was sick of going round in circles on my own, the idea of re-branding and overhauling my website felt daunting and the whole thing just filled me with dread.

On the other side I can say that for the first time - maybe ever - I LOVE my website. I'm so much more excited about my business, I feel like I have a really clear direction and it's made all the difference.

As creatives, it can be so hard to find someone who can understand the passion we have and how close something is to our heart, the fact that Stak got that meant the world to me. It made the process so much more enjoyable. Everyone I've shown it to is just blown away. The fact they think it's very ‘me’. It’s the biggest compliment and shows just how much she listens and cares.

It felt really scary letting someone into the process after I'd DIY'd everything for such a long time, but Stak really understood that and was just really reassuring. It didn't feel like giving up creative control, instead, it felt like a whole new creative collaboration. Stak was absolutely fantastic every step of the way. She helped me look at so many things from angles I'd never considered, she really took the time to listen, and what she came up with was incredible.

Also Stak is a powerhouse - not only is her design absolutely brilliant, but she has SO much knowledge about how to bring every part of your business together and offers so many practical ways you can do it, and supports you every step of the way.

She’s one part web-designer, one part strategist, and one part wizard.

Think you might be a good fit?

Let’s make sure.

  • You have a website you DIYed a while back but it’s never felt quite right. Maybe you always meant to come back to it but the amount of time and effort it took to get it up in the first place means you don’t want to ever think about it again.

  • Your website is on Squarespace, OR you’re looking to escape Wordpress and move it there.

  • You have the content for your website but you don’t know what to put where, or why…. or how!

Maybe not so much:

You’re probably looking for something/someone else if:

  • You’re looking for someone to create your very first website. That service is over here.

  • You have a very large eCommerce business. Squarespace works best for selling services and digital products. It can also work if you have a highly curated selection of stock, like an artist selling artworks. If you have a large inventory Shopify is probably your best fit.

  • You want a Wordpress site. Which I recommend against. Strongly.

How does this work?

I’ve been told this should only include three steps so it’s not overwhelming but I really want to break it down for you. I know what its like to try to get a sense of whether someone would be a good fit and to want alllll the details.

1.

First up: you schedule a free call so we can talk about what you want and if I’m the person to do it.

After the call I’ll send you a proposal that includes everything we talked about, exactly what I’ll be doing for you and the quote we discussed. If you're happy with that and want to move ahead you’ll sign a contract and pay the first invoice.

2.

After that I’ll send you over some questionnaires for you to fill in. Yes it’s homework time! This part is crucial because it’s your website and it’s super important (to both of us) everything is custom made to suit you and your needs. Unfortunately I can’t read your mind so you’ll have to write as much as you possibly can. Probably for the best though. (No one in movies who can read minds has a good time.)

3.

Once you’ve done your homework, it’s good homework I promise, you send it to back to me and we have another call to talk about what you’ve written and make your moodboard (my favourite part!).

4.

Then I get to work building a mock up of your website.

First I’ll make up a quick draft home page to check that I’m on the right track. You’ll get to give feedback and suggestions straight away.

Then I’ll mock up the three main pages (home, about and one other). I’ll send these off to you on Friday and you have all weekend and Monday to make comments and request changes. After that I’ll make those changes and we’ll go back and forth that week getting everything perfect.

5.

Once you’ve said yes love it, you add me as an editor to your current website and I get to building it for real. There will be another unlimited revison period while we polish everything off before….

I hand back the website of your dreams and you live in online business bliss forever. Well probably not forever but people have told me they kept opening their website just to admire it so I think there’s definitely some bliss involved.

FAQs

What happens once I press schedule a call?

You’ll be taken to a page where you’ll be able to pick a time and day for a discovery call that suits you. It includes a brief questionaire for you to fill in. On the call I’ll ask you a bunch of questions about what you’re looking for to make sure I’m a good fit. You’ll also have the chance to ask me a bunch of questions.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yup. Generally the final price is automatically split into thirds, but if you want a different payment schedual I’m happy to talk about that on the call.

How long will this take?

Part of that depends on how quickly you can get the homework back to me. It usually takes 4 weeks. After all the workbooks have been completed, I’ll send you the link to book an hour long call where we go over everything and also make your moodboard! After that call I’ll need about one week to finish the mock up, one week of refinments and revisions and another to build it out live.

I don’t have a website yet. Will you make me one?

I sure can. You can find that service here.

Will you write my copy?

I do have a copy inclusive package now!

Do you offer branding services?

Yup yup.

Are there any additional costs?

Not unless you pick any of the add ons. I offer copy editing, service intergration, extra designy bits and additional website pages. These are all decided up front so there’s no price suprises.

Do you only use Squarespace because you can’t code?

Haha, no. Most websites I build have a fair chuck of css and I’ve built websites using Wordpress before. I truly think for most online businesses Squarespace is a better fit. It’s quicker for me to design in, and it’s also much easier for you to manage and make changes as you like. If you need help escaping from Wordpress, give me a call.
